Repair Shop Calendar is a calendar for repair shops, dealing with cars, bikes, bicycles, home equipment, cloths and shoes. It`s perfect to plan working hours, keep track of scheduled appointments and what service bay technicians will be using.
Pros: Basically a calendar synchronizing program that lets to do lists of teams to be synchronized. Teams work on work-orders, coordinated by masters. Then at the top level of a chief and his masters. To do actions are related to specific work orders based on customer requirements. As work orders are closed customers can comment on the work and viewed by the head of the repair shop. Customer contacts are managed by the program too as is the income from the repair jobs completed.
Work order data base, customer database and the appointment schedules are maintained in an internal database. Back up of which can be specified as required, multiple times a day too. One click restore is available to recover from any problems due to hardware failure or virus attacks on the machines.
Consolidated view of the order status, completion etc can be obtained several different ways for any time period. Two views are possible horizontal or vertical time lines or a table view for a top level look.
Export of data can be done in several formats including Excel, text, html or xml. It’s possible to sync data from Outlook. Output to USB devices also is built in. A networked version of the application is also available.
Cons: Whenever one switches over to any such new packages, usually, there is a need for using existing data that was in a older application. Thus import of legacy data is fairly important in most cases. No import facilities are available, assumption being all new starts will be from scratch or from a older version of the same program thus obviating the need for data import.
Generally a well designed application, reasonably easy to use. Actually, could be used by teams, other than repair teams too, that need to coordinate their work. Overall the package is at 4 star level.
